Your child doesn't need another tutor working through random worksheets. They need a clear, personalised route to the 11+ score their target schools require, across English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, built around their level and gaps.

It's the most common thing parents tell us, and it's almost never about effort. Usually, it's one of these
Misreading questions, careless slips and running out of time cost marks they could have earned.
They do well at school, but get stuck when 11+ questions are worded, timed or presented differently.
A gap in one area, often reasoning or comprehension, drags down an otherwise strong overall score.
More tutoring hours won't solve the problem if you're working on the wrong things. That's why we start by finding out exactly what's holding your child back.
At Edmento, lessons start from £15 an hour. Across the UK, the cost of an 11+ tutor depends on the tutor's experience, how many papers your child is sitting, how much exam preparation is involved and what support comes with the lessons.
1-to-1 lessons cost more than group tuition, but every minute goes on your child's gaps. You won't be asked to buy a large block of lessons before you know the tutor is right: start with the free consultation and a trial.

While other tutors guess, we diagnose. While they teach, we measure. That's why our grades move fast.
Find exactly which papers, topics and skills are costing them marks, and why.
Focus lessons on the gaps with the biggest impact on their overall score.
We test, track and adjust until progress shows in timed practice papers.
No random tutoring. No guessing. Just a clear plan.
Tell us your child’s target schools, test format and key struggles so we can recommend the right support.

Your child meets a matched 11+ tutor who assesses their level, identifies gaps and starts tackling the gaps holding them back.

Get clear feedback on knowledge gaps, accuracy, speed and lost marks, with a focused plan to improve their 11+ results.

A child building confidence and a child targeting the most selective grammar or independent schools require completely different tutoring strategies.
We target that to get them exam-ready.
Building confidence
We build the core skills calmly, close the gaps and get your child used to the format before the pressure builds.
Sharpening accuracy
We focus on careful reading, working accurately under time pressure and avoiding the mistakes that cost easy marks.
Aiming high
We raise the challenge. Harder questions, unfamiliar problem types, faster thinking and less hand-holding.
Let’s find what’s standing between them and the top marks
Yes, because every lesson can focus on the exact areas costing your child marks, rather than following the pace and needs of a whole class.
Spend more time on the papers and question types they struggle with and less on what they already know.
Whether they’re just starting out or aiming for the most selective schools, teaching starts from where they are now.
Apply each skill to the 11+ question styles and timings they’ll actually face in the test.
Spot where their reasoning or working went wrong before the same mistake happens again.
Your child can ask questions, revisit difficult steps and get explanations until they understand.
Lessons focus on the format and score their target grammar or independent schools require.
Yes. Online 11+ tutoring can be as effective as face-to-face when lessons are interactive. Tutor and student work together on a shared digital whiteboard, so every answer and line of working is visible, and practice questions, reasoning puzzles and writing tasks are tackled step by step together.
At Edmento, lessons start from £15 an hour. Across the UK, 11+ tutoring costs vary with the tutor's experience, how many papers your child is sitting and how much exam preparation and support is included. We start with a free consultation and a trial lesson, with no large upfront package, so you can judge the value before committing.
It usually is when lessons target the specific reasons your child is losing marks. Working through practice papers rarely moves a score on its own; a tutor who diagnoses gaps, sets focused practice and gives feedback on your child's own work can. The trial lesson lets you judge before committing.
Most families start in Year 4 or early Year 5, which leaves time to build skills gradually rather than cramming. Most 11+ tests are sat at the start of Year 6, so later starts are possible but need a more focused plan.
Once a week suits most children, often increasing over the summer before the test. We'll suggest a plan based on your child's starting point, the papers they're sitting and their target schools.
It depends on the school or area. Most tests include some combination of English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, and some independent schools add a creative writing task or interview. Tell us your target schools and we'll focus on the papers they actually set.
We prepare children for GL Assessment tests, CEM-style papers, the ISEB Common Pre-Test and independent schools' own exams. Tell us your target schools and we'll match a tutor familiar with their format, question types and timings.
Grammar school tests are usually multiple-choice papers set by GL Assessment or in a CEM style, with a pass mark or ranking. Independent schools often set their own English and Maths papers, may use the ISEB Common Pre-Test and frequently add an interview. Preparation differs, so we plan around the schools you're applying to.
It can, though no honest tutor guarantees a result. Progress comes from fixing the specific gaps and technique problems that cost marks, practising regularly under timed conditions and getting feedback. We track progress and share updates, so you can see whether it's working.
Speed comes from accuracy and familiarity, not rushing. A tutor builds recognition of common question types, teaches when to move on and gradually introduces timed practice so your child learns to pace a whole paper.
By building checking into how they work: reading the question twice, underlining key words, writing working down and checking answers against the options. A tutor spots the specific slips your child tends to make and targets those.
Lessons happen live, 1-to-1, over video. Tutor and student work on a shared digital whiteboard, so every answer and line of working is visible, and practice questions are tackled step by step together. Your child needs a laptop or tablet and a quiet space; many families find it easier than travelling to lessons.
We match on the papers and format your child is sitting, their target schools, their needs and their personality. After the free assessment we suggest a tutor, and your child has a trial lesson so you can both judge the fit before committing.
